BE SUSTAINABLE for the first time in Ukraine! Fashion summit

This season, the Ukrainian Fashion Week organizing committee announced February 3 as BE SUSTAINABLE !, as part of which a large-scale Fashion Summit was held. The mission of the event is to gather and inspire everyone! – has been completed.

BE SUSTAINABLE! Fashion Summit has become a professional event aimed at increasing the level of expertise of Ukrainian specialists working in the field of design and production of clothing. The topics of presentations, the high level of relevance of the content and the professional audience of the summit demonstrate not only fashion reforms, but also changes in the approach to solving problems related to sustainable development in general.

At the summit, 7 reports were presented by 7 leading international and Ukrainian experts working in different areas of the industry. Speakers' speeches allowed the audience to look at the hot topic of the present from different angles. And it is interdisciplinarity in sustainability communication that leads to qualitative change.

Elena Frolyak, editor-in-chief of the information service of the ICTV channel, TV presenter and journalist, gave an inspiring lecture on conscious consumption and her many years of experience in environmental awareness. For the second time in the framework of Ukrainian Fashion Week, Ukrainian expert and sustainable development consultant Claudia Shevelyuk presented a sustainable fashion strategy. Marcus Bergman, an expert on sustainable development and the founder of the Swedish agency Galantus, suggested looking at the concept of "sustainability" from a different angle and generally figuring out what exactly each of us puts into this word. Marcus also led a workshop “How to Create a Responsible Product” using the One Dear Thing project as an example.

An open interview with Svetlana Bevza, designer of the BEVZA brand, was conducted by Maria Mokhova, fashion editor of L'Officiel Ukraine. Svetlana said that animal prints for famous vegan down jackets are a reference to popular characters who wore natural fur coats, for example, Carrie Bradshaw and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The speakers of the final panel, almost contraversive, discussion were Marcus Bergman, Claudia Shevelyuk and Marianna Boyko, eco-blogger, eco-trainer, radio host, writer, owner of the Act Green brand. Moderated the conversation on the topic of whether conscious consumption can save the planet at all, Tatyana Solovey, columnist for fashion and sustainability editor Vogue UA.

Among the guests of the summit are designers and fashion-journalists, representatives of government and business, figures of the creative and cultural sector. The Deputy Ambassador of Sweden, Ms. Louise Morsin, and Tatyana Nekrasova, responsible for the culture, education and information sector, also joined the guests.

The invitation of international guests was supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in Ukraine.
